VIEWS from the UCI CAMPUS A lookout at the top of the ecological preserve is the highest point on campus and provides sweeping views from the ocean to the mountains.

For a few days each year around the Winter solstice light from the rising sun reflects toward UCI from the skyscrapers in downtown LA. Most often they are visible only as a glow through the haze and smog of the LA basin, but on Jan 11 this year remarkably clear air provided an exceptionally sharp view, with downtown LA and the Hollywood sign highlighted below a Delta airlines flight departing from John Wayne airport. The building in the foreground is the Samueli College of Health Sciences, presently under construction. |
